Me at the balcony of Centro Cultural Gabriel Garcia Marquez
I lived in Bogota for an year and discovered all the most photogenic spots in La Candelaria, historical center of the city. Here is my TOP 14 most Instagrammable places in Bogotá.
It’s one of my favorite places because of 3 things. Mountains view and colonial style houses as an iconic postcard.
And architecture itself with Main Cathedral of Bogota as a background. This spot perfect for a rainy day photoshoots. Downstairs you can find most popular Colombian coffee shop Juan Valdez.
View from balcony of Cultural center of Gabriel Garcia Marquez
The oldest part of the city with small withe church, cute houses and iconic streets around. Better time to take photos here is a morning till 10 a.m. Because later from here started free walking tours and space becomes crowded.
Rainy plazoleta Chorro de Quevedo
3. Pedestrian street near plazoleta Chorro de Quevedo
Here are many local shops and colorful details, coffee shop Casa Galería and a lot of bars. But main attraction is this indigenous lady, most famous graffiti in all Bogota, I guess.
Stay in the middle of intersection and look down. With big zoom you can catch this shot, which had a lot of likes in my Instagram. All sides of this spot are beautiful, just look around. And then go down the Carrera 2.
5. Colorful graffiti of Vivo hostel and Vivo suits
Vivo Hostel Cra. 1 #No. 9-44, Bogotá, Cundinamarca, Colombia
Up of the hill, short tiny street almost uncovered spot for travel photographers. 2 graffiti were painted by Carlos Trilleras, the same one of old lady I showed before. All color as bright as Colombian culture.
On a sunny day you can see Old Town and mountains on the horizon. Tile roofs, some flags and new architecture. I used zoom 300 millimeters to take this photo.
Go to basketball playground and see “Manhattan view” in Bogota. Bacata tower is the highest building in Colombia so photogenic, actually. Also here are absolutely crazy graffiti.
A great example of what Paris architecture will look like if nobody cares about. Just one block from a Main Square, you can go easy and find these two Parisian style house on the same street.
Nice colorful graffiti by 5 different artists. And then you can go down 50 meters for a coffee tasting in Divino Café Especial Cra. 2 ##12d-24, Bogotá. It’s a calm place with pure Colombian coffee.
This place is truly magic. I’ve been here 5 times and wish to back again. The best time to be near tickets office is 4 p.m. Sunrise at 6.
5 not obviously things to do in Monserrate:
1. Walk through park Way of the Cross and enjoy different trees, flowers, mountains view
2. Try to see hummingbird, they a green and crazy beautiful
3. Drink hot chocolate with cheese in café Santa Clara
4. After sunset wait a little bit and you can take pictures with a special lighting near church and night city lights on a background, see my photo below.
5. Have a dinner at restaurant Casa San Isidro. This 400 years old house was moved up of the mountain. Cuisine are really really good and it’s open till 11 p.m.
Take warm jacket with you, it’s always windy and cold, altitude is 3156 meters.
Mountains opposite of Monserrate with more wide and wild view. If you have a zoom lens, you can be lucky to take an amazing pictures with Monserrate church, Bacata tower and other points of the city. To get here is possibly by Uber, just ask the driver wait for you or go together up hill. It’s can be absolutely empty during weekdays, so better to go with someone else. Perfect day to visit is Sunday, when church is open.
